The best homes are built on beautiful life stories.

MEET KATE

I came to interior design the way most meaningful things happen: organically, and because something I loved led me there.

My background is in surface and pattern design, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Design and Visual Communication from the University of Minnesota. From there, I went on to my professional career, most notably for Target, where I developed original prints, built seasonal color stories, and worked closely with vendors to bring cohesive concepts to life at scale. It was meticulous, creative work — and it taught me how to see the world in layers.

But it was my own home that changed everything.

When I took on the renovation of our 1941 Cape Cod home, I approached it the way I approach everything — with care, curiosity, and a deep respect for what was already there. We honored what mattered, and made room for what was next. I even sent the original Roper oven all the way to Nevada for restoration!

That project earned national attention, and it was then that something new blossomed. Friends and family started asking for help with their own homes, one project led to another, and what emerged was a design practice rooted in something I hadn't quite expected…

I discovered the profound impact a well-designed home has on the people who live in it.

And I haven’t stopped since.

I BELIEVE…

Good design makes you feel calm. It makes your mornings easier and your evenings more restorative.

It holds space for a house full of people over the holidays and settles into something cozy and quiet when the moment calls for it. Most people don't connect with how much their space shapes their daily life — until they finally live in one that's designed for them.

That's what I'm here for.

Today I work with clients across the Twin Cities, Sarasota, Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island, and beyond — designing homes that honor the lives they've built and hold space for everything they have yet to create.

A few things worth knowing:

I am the 6th generation to own and steward our 1882 family farm. It’s the same land my Norwegian ancestors came to when they were building a better life.

My free time is spent renovating the original farmhouse, restoring a prairie, and creating shelter belts for the wildlife that deserve a home there too.

I'm a mom to five wonderful sons, which means I understand, viscerally, how a home actually gets lived in. And I know a thing or two about repairing drywall.

Your home is one of the most personal places in your life. Being invited into it is a privilege I take seriously. Discretion is my default, always.

I've been known to go above and beyond to find exactly the right piece — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

There's a good chance we'll make memories worth revisiting long after the project is over. I believe the best designs are created from a place of genuine care.

“ATTENTIVE, ORGANIZED, AND CREATIVE”

“We couldn't be more grateful to Kate for helping us design the perfect first home — from interior and exterior selections for our new build, to sourcing unique furniture pieces, to adding the perfect finishing touches. Kate was attentive, organized, creative, and made our vision come to life better than we could have imagined."
